Kathleen Pascoe, LMT
My deep respect for the power of human touch was developed by how my mother nurtured me as a child. I remember with fondness those wonderful moments when her soft fingers floated over my face lulling me into a sweet sleep. During my college years, many of my friends would come to me for head massage because they claimed I gave the best! Little did I realize in the late 1970s that massage therapy would become a viable career choice!
As I was pondering a new life path twenty-years ago, I visited a naturopath’s office and was struck by the ambiance of gentle music and the aroma of essential oils filling the air. I knew then that I wanted to work in such an environment. Combining my respect for human touch with the desire to create a calm and serene environment, I set off in the direction of pursuing massage therapy as a career. By that fall, I was enrolled in the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy. Since completing the program in 2004, I have worked in a wide-range of massage settings - the chiropractic office, day-spa, corporate work place, and nursing homes.
A massage specialty I have pursued is oncology massage. I’ve witnessed the wonderful effect touch had upon my mother and best friend, both of whom were diagnosed with cancer. I have worked with the Integrative Wellness Program at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and on a pediatric oncology unit at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. I have also worked with hundreds of terminally ill patients in-home, inpatient, and in nursing homes with Family Hospice and Palliative Care.
I am so pleased to welcome you to Selah Massage Therapy. A place created for you to pause, exhale, relax, and rejuvenate!
